Wanderlust, treat written and directed by Morris Panych, dosage officially opened tonight. The music is based on Robert Service’s poems and Robert Service was played by Tom Rooney. It’s an excellent production but a little drab. Everyone is in brown or grey because Service works in a bank and is a dreamer – writing about the Yukon but not going there – at least not during this play. Many actors that I saw in other productions were in the audience (you could tell from all the kissing and hugging that was going on too) and there was a lot of excitement for this new play. People were even more dressed up – usually very casual – shorts and sandals. Certainly a very different musical from 42nd Street. Interesting but not splendid.
